Quickie Mart got his start in the smoke filled, late night bar scene of New Orleans pre-Katrina. Since then, he has relocated to Los Angeles, toured the world, recorded numerous projects, and still manages to play in his hometown at a minimum of once a month.
Quickie’s accolades include playing large events like SXSW, Vegoose, and Zen Festival. He has been featured twice at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, three years at Voodoo Music Festival, and five years in a row at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. He has shared stages with artists such as George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Jurassic 5, RJD2, The Ting Tings, Fishbone, Lyrics Born, Joss Stone, Perry Farrell’s Satellite Party, DJ Klever, Particle, Akon, Gift Of Gab, Inspektah Deck, and Lilly Allen, …just to name a few. He also had the honor of performing on stage with the legendary Mac “Dr. John” Rebennak. Whether touring as a solo artist, or on the road with other acts like Galactic, Q-Tip, Shwayze, and The Cool Kids, Mart’s sets have captivated audiences worldwide.
QM has been featured on numerous television programs including Current TV, Louisiana’s famous Dew Drop Inn, and one season on NBC’s Last Call with Carson Daly’s as the show’s resident DJ. He has worked in the studio with heavyweight artists like Freddie Gibbs, UPT/Universal’s Juvenile, Grammy nominated Planet Asia, ANTI/Epitaph’s Galactic, and Stone Throw’s Percee P. In late 2009, Ben Ellman and Quickie released the “Gypsyphonic Disko” which was downloaded more that 30,000 times, and rated as one of Nerve Magazine’s Top 5 Albums you should be listening to. His most recent project, Haze Diaires Vol. 3 with Gotham Green peaked at number 3 on the CMJ Hip Hop charts. Lately, his dubstep trio Formless (with theartistknownasprints and Partymonster) has been making noise on the web and live with their bass heavy crowd pleasing all original tunes and remixes.
Quickie Mart has also received press in URB Magazine, Blender, Filter, XLR8R, and Offbeat magazines, and was hailed “New Orleans’ Hip Hop Champion” by LA Weekly. In addition to consistently recording and touring QM has also served as the tour DJ for acts like The Knux, iCON the Mic King, Freddie Gibbs, Gotham Green, and Devin the Dude.
Quickie knows no musical bounds as an artist, he spans across genres like it’s no one’s business. Now after being so young, and accomplishing so much in such a short amount of time, it’s easy to see why Quickie Mart has attracted so many people to his music -- and even easier to expect much more from him in the future
